UNDER PROJECT SAFE CHILDHOOD-NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED TO POSSESSION OF
CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - JAMES RUTKOFSKE, age 40, formerly a resident of New
Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court to 27 months in prison,
placed on supervised release for life, required to register as a sex
offender, provide a DNA sample, pay a $10,000.00 fine and RUTKOFSKE is
prohibited from the use of computers, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten
today.

On March 26, 2007, JAMES RUTKOFSKE entered a plea of guilty before
U. S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to Possession of Child Pornography in
violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(4)(B). RUTKOFSKE
was charged in a Bill of Information charging him with Possession of Child
Pornography in February, 2007.

According to a Factual Basis filed in federal court, special agents
from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) received a complaint from a
local computer repair shop who informed the FBI that while working on
RUTKOFSKE's computer they discovered images of child pornography. As a
result of this information, FBI agents obtained federal search warrants for
the computer as well as for the defendant's residence. Federal agents
recovered computer hard drives and CDs containing images of minors engaging
in sexually explicit conduct.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney and
Project Safe Childhood Coordinator Brian M. Klebba.
