But Tim, what about the fact that state law says if you are receiving a
homestead exemption at a different address (in another parish), you are
legally looked upon as having legal domicile at that address and that is the
only location you can vote?

Did the legislature since Katrina pass some sort of temporary suspension of
that law? I ask this because I had something to do with the drafting of the
legislation/r.s. back in '97 when I worked for then State Rep. Benny
Rousselle who authored the bill.

Former residents still registered to vote in St. Bernard Parish may do
so in this election, as long as they have not changed their voter
registration to another location. This is true even if they take a
homestead exemption somewhere else. I have called the Secretary of State's
office to verify this fact. If you have any doubt, please call them at
225-922-0900. Please exercise your right to vote. If you wish to vote in
St. Bernard, you may, asl long as you don't change your voter registration
to another parish/state. Sorry if this is a repeat of any information
previously posted.
