Who says they need 45,000 residents? After the storm we had to put my mom
and dad in-law in a nursing home in Ferriday, LA. We went up as often as we
could and would somethimes need to purchase items for them. There's pretty
much nothing there--no Winn Dixie or Sav-a-Center, mall, etc--at least not
where we could find them--unless you traveled to Natchez. BUT--they had a
Wal-mart. It was about the size of a matchbox, but they had one. AND now
they have a new super Wal-mart. I don't know for sure, but I'd be willing
to bet they don't have much larger of a population than we do. Like us,
they are a stones throw from Natchez--which also has a huge Wal-mart. So
with this in mind, why are they so unwilling to come to St. Bernard? A
super-Wal-mart or Target would be nice, but I'm sure most folks would be
happy with a smaller facility if that would be more cost effective for the
time being.
At least we have our Main's, Walgreens, Family Dollars, Dollar General,
grocery stores along with the other businesses and restaurants. They have
all done a remarkable job of making things available for us and I am very
grateful for them.

Had to put my 2 cents in...

Janet
