It's a repeat of contaminated water with no entity taking responsibility and LDEQ making no meaningful enforcement action. The lawsuit in the late 1990's did nothing to change the location of the refinery's discharge which is too closely located to our water intake.

The St. Bernard Parish water treatment plant was shut down this morning
after scores of residents called to complain about foul-smelling water.

Shades of 1997!

Is this a repeat of the Torres lawsuit vs. the government in the late '90's
whereas the water was tainted? Seems the parish government then was faced
with a pricetag for responsibility of "foul-smelling water/diesel-laced
baths and showers. The last I read was in August, 2005 right before Katrina
when Torres promised homeowners $400 per household individual--and we can
surmise that was placed on hold while the Murphy incident superseded that
suit (and St. Bernard Parish couldn't pay its liability because of Big K
(not K-Mart, of course <G>)..

Déjà vu!?
