Craig, for the people of St. Bernard, the Florida Avenue corridor bypass
underway can't come soon enough.

DOTD will continue to raise the Claiborne Bridge for several hours until the
permanent repairs are made to lift it full height and lower it. The repair
may take a few weeks. Be sure to listen to the traffic news for days when it
is going to be up, usually 9am til 2pm or so.  You can also check
www.portno.com, on the left side of the screen click CITIZEN RESOURCES, then
click BRIDGES. In red at the top of the screen will be the latest
information from DOTD about the next time DOTD plans to raise it for a few
hours. Lately, DOTD has been sending out advisories the day before they have
to do this. ddk
