TOMORROW: LRA Board of Directors to Meet
Governor Blanco to address Board during morning session

BATON ROUGE (December 10, 2007) - The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) Board of Directors will meet at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow on the campus of Baton Rouge Community College in the Louisiana Boardroom of the Louisiana Building, which is located at 5310 Florida Boulevard Baton Rouge, LA.

Following brief opening remarks from LRA Chairman Dr. Norman Francis, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco will address the board with the Governor's Report.

The Board also is expected to consider and vote on several measures, including:

* Resolutions presented by Infrastructure Task Force Chair John T. Landry to increase funding for Long Term Community Recovery Plans and school districts that were impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. These resolutions will be considered for preliminary approval.
* Housing Task Force Chair Walter Leger will present a resolution regarding the process for transferring properties that have been bought out by the Road Home to local redevelopment agencies. The Board will also consider the reallocation of funding from the LRA's Rental Programs to support the redevelopment process. These resolutions will be considered for preliminary approval.
* The Board will hear presentations on Road Home Property Disposition Plans from Jefferson and Orleans parishes and consider these plans for final approval.
* The Board will receive Long Term Community Plans from Acadia, Allen, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes and consider these plans for final approval.

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated South Louisiana, claiming 1,464 lives, destroying more than 200,000 homes and 18,000 businesses. The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the planning and coordinating body that was created in the aftermath of these storms by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to lead one of the most extensive rebuilding efforts in the world. The LRA is a 33-member body which is coordinating across jurisdictions, supporting community recovery and resurgence, ensuring integrity and effectiveness, and planning for the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana.
