FREE RIDE HOME PROGRAM 

In an effort to curtail drinking and driving, the St. Bernard Parish
Sheriff's Office more than two decades ago began offering free rides home to
residents who have too much to drink during the holidays. 

The Sheriff's Office's free ride home program will kick off Thursday at 6
p.m. and run through Jan. 2 at 8 a.m. 

Motorists can call the Sheriff's Office at 271-2501 during those dates 24
hours a day, seven days a week -- no questions asked.
