A St. Bernard community man is accused of stiffing a cab driver on his fare,
then beating the cabbie in the head with a couple of bricks.

When St. Bernard Parish sheriff's deputies responded to the armed robbery
call early Sunday they found the victim, a 48-year-old Slidell man, drenched
in blood with wounds to his head, the Sheriff's Office said in a news
release.

The victim told investigators he drove the suspect, later identified as
Kenny Lee Warden, 26, of 1813 Heights Drive, St. Bernard, to the Heights
Drive area. He said Warden asked him to stop in front of a home and said
he'd run inside to get money to pay the fare.

Instead, Warden picked up two bricks from the ground and began beating the
cabbie, the news release said. Warden demanded money and the victim gave him
an unspecified amount of cash, the news release said. Warden then fled.

Deputies searched the area but did not locate Warden. Warden turned himself
in a few hours later.

He was booked into the St. Bernard Parish Jail with armed robbery, the news
release said.

The cab driver is recovering from his wounds, the news release said.
