" But, I have over the years come to the realization that no matter where
you choose to reside, it's the general attitude of the people in that
particular area that you either overcome or you leave. " --B.L.

Jer: Many in New Orleans during the flight to the suburbs of the 50's and
60's made the decision to leave. Others could not by financial situations or
too old to switch gears <G>. The faced deteriorating neighborhoods/blight
and changeover of undesirables and lifestyle degradation (so we all
understand what this entails).

I also, had fond times of St. Roch, Franklin Ave., Elysian Fields, Colton,
Nichols, and the upper 7th and 9th wards. Good memories that will never be
substituted as a youth. My main love was traveling by bus for 7 Cents to
Canal Street with an idea that Woolworth, Krauss or Kress or Sears had
everything I needed in items for a 12 yr. old. I grew up fast having moved
to Harahan as a teen and shocked many in my story about catching a bus from
Harahan each morning at 6am, transferring to 3 bus lines (Express to
Carrolton, Canal and St. Claude buses) then back home afterwards. I didn't
complain as it was a necessity. At some point, I'll tell all a story about a
4:30 am trip to a Doll-and-Toy giveaway for a Christmas Toy at Municipal
Auditorium, but that's off on a tangent. And, lack of financial means
doesn't give one a free-shot at "cold-cocking" another as reported.

However, the point being the creep who mugs helpful cabbies is in the words
of the youths--cold.

He didn't have to live on Heights Dr., and by the same tone could have lived
on Blanchard (as I also lived there in the early 70's). Is he a victim of
abuse, neglect (as excused by liberal mentality)? Perhaps homeless and being
dropped off in someone else's neighborhood? No address was given for his
stay.

At any measure, a jerk will be one no matter where he/she resides. And as
far as we know, such lowlife could well have made it out of the gutter where
he resides permanently.
