NEW ORLEANS - Construction began Tuesday at the Holy Cross School in
Gentilly. On Tuesday morning, workers drove the first pilons into the
ground. 

Holy Cross relocated from its original 9th Ward location as a result of the
damage from Hurricane Katrina. 

To make room for the new campus, the archdiocese decided to tear down St.
Frances Cabrini Church on Paris Avenue. 

?It?s been a long two years,? Headmaster Charles Digange said. 

Construction of all the buildings on the new Holy Cross Campus is expected
to be completed in August, 2009 ? just in time for the Fall semester.
