A Chalmette man was stabbed 13 times during a fight this morning,
authorities said.

Milton Guarino, 27, was transported to University Hospital in New Orleans
where he is expected to recover from his wounds, the St. Bernard Parish
Sheriff's Office said.

David Johnson, 54, of Metairie, has been booked with attempted murder.

The Sheriff's Office said it responded to a report of an aggravated battery
around 1:45 a.m. and found Guarino sitting on the floor of his FEMA trailer,
bleeding from his chest. Investigators said Guarino and Johnson had driven
into New Orleans to buy heroin and when they returned to Guarino's trailer
they began fighting.

Johnson stabbed Guarino numerous times and fled, the Sheriff's Office said.

After a search, Johnson was located in his vehicle at the intersection of
West Judge Perez Drive and Packenham Avenue, where he was arrested.
