Charles Reppel has been appointed to the Board of Commissioners of St.
Bernard Port, Harbor, and Terminal District, Gov. Bobby Jindal said in a
news release today.

The board regulates commerce and traffic within the navigable waters of St.
Bernard Parish, the news release said. The St. Bernard Port is headquartered
in Chalmette.

According to statute, members are appointed by the governor upon the
recommendation of a majority of the St. Bernard legislative delegation and
subject to confirmation by the state Senate, Jindal's news release said.

Reppel, of Chalmette, is a former director of operations and marketing for
the St. Bernard Port, where he oversaw port operations from 1993 to 2001. He
said he has some 40 years experience in the shipping industry and has worked
for shipping companies in Houston and West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale,
Fla.

Most recently, Reppel worked for St. Bernard Parish government, where he was
recreation director and, later, a top aide to former Parish President Henry
"Junior'' Rodriguez.
