Whenever the news media interviews anyone, they are from the ninth ward.
Right after Katrina, what did they focus on ?  The Convention Center &
Superdome.  Months (years) after Katrina, the ninth ward. While in Fort
Worth, we never heard anything about St. Bernard.

This past week American Idol had their second charity night (Idol Gives
Back). In the 2 1/2 hour show, they had a number of segments that focused on
New Orleans.

During one of those segments, my seven year old turned to my wife and I and
asked "Why is everyone black?"

I think that tells us what the national perception of New Orleans is.
