A comparison of Biloxi or any other area of the Gulf Coast is like
complaining apples and oranges.

Since reading about the remarks about lack of progression in St. Bernard
parish, I decided to take a tour this morning after my Golden Retriever
Chance and myself completed our nursing home visit this AM at Magazine and
Jefferson Ave. I started our tour on the backstreets of the uptown area. I
always go check if Charlies Steakhouse on Dryards is ready to open. Soon I
suppose the neo light has been mounted on the front wall.

We visited City Park,Park Island area, went through several streets in
Lakeview. Toured the new Holy Cross property, which was original the home of
my Alma Mata, St. Joseph Academy ( later Redeemer). Traveled through the
Filmore, Franklyn Ave area, Gentilly.

Get in your car people. Look around. These areas are not any better than we
are. Beautiful rebuilt homes with a overgrown unoccupied house next door, or
one that has been gutted but not redone. Business fronts with signs like we
have.

Their coming together, just as we are doing. My opinion is that St. Bernard
has progressed a lot more than my old stomping grounds in New Orleans or
any of the areas I visited today.
Certainly more that the new Holy Cross school area.

If you look around closely right here in our parish you can see improvements
daily. It's almost like trying to watch a flower bloom, it blooms but you
really don't notice all of the process.

We have come a long way considering where we were but we will get there.
