Petition to Keep the National Guard in New Orleans


Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans is supporting the Holy Cross Neighborhood
Association in their efforts to keep the Louisiana National Guard in New
Orleans. To combat crime, they seek to keep the guard here until NOPD sub
stations are rebuilt and re-staffed in all the storm-affected areas of the
city, the number of NOPD officers reaches pre-storm levels, and FBI crime
statistics show a decrease in violent crime rates. The deadline to acquire

New Job Training Resources


Louisiana Center for Workforce Recovery
LCWR is a non-profit project dedicated to providing employment services -
from construction jobs to white-collar jobs - to those affected by
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. LCWR has offices in New Orleans, Metairie,
Baton Rouge, Opelousas, and Lake Charles. 


LA Green Corps Green Job Training Program
This program for 16-24 year olds teaches job and leadership skills through
"green" service projects such as construction/deconstruction, landscaping,
energy conservation, and more.
