We hope to get people out to pick up signs and bumper stickers on Monday.
The time is iffy right now due to Taffaro's schedule but we should know by
this weekend. I hope that you will be able to join us.

MEDIA ADVISORY FOR MONDAY, JUNE 16

Groups Launch New Campaign to Finish Closure and Restoration of MRGO

Public Urged to Get Free Signs, Stickers to Help Finish the Job

(St. Bernard Parish, LA) -- A broad coalition of environmental groups and
Louisiana charities will launch a new public campaign on Monday to make sure
the controversial shipping channel known as Mister Go is finally shut down
and the land around it restored.

Congress just authorized the final closure of the Mississippi River Gulf
Outlet (MRGO, commonly called Mister Go). Louisianans are now being asked to
help with the next steps: making sure the White House keeps fulfilling that
authorization as a top priority, and making sure the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers gets started on the work without further delay.

Concerned citizens can help in two ways:

* Come to 8201 West Judge Perez Dr to pick up FREE yard signs,
stickers, and decals saying Mister Go Must Go. The media is invited to stop
by the event to get b-roll/photos of the signs being handed out and to
interview members of the coalition, special guests, or - with their
permission - members of the public. St. Bernard Parish President Craig
Taffaro (and other famous people) will be attending the event at (insert
specific time here) and will be available for interviews.

* Visit a new web site, www.MRGOmustGO.org
<http://www.mrgomustgo.org/> , and sign the online petition to the White
House to make sure this critical work gets done. (Louisianans can call the
White House if they prefer at 202-456-1414). The web site also has more
information about the issue and the campaign.
