Appeals begin for owners of condemned buildings in St. Bernard

05:54 PM CDT on Thursday, June 19, 2008

Hasan Aquil / Eyewitness News

Residents in St. Bernard Parish will have the chance to appeal if their
house or building was added to the condemned structure list. The St.
Bernard Parish Council is holding appeals hearings for structures that did
not meet the Minimum Housing Standards mandated by the Parish Code of
Ordinances.

Appeals hearings will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. and
on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in Trailer J-6 to Trailer K-6 behind the
St. Bernard Parish Government Complex at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in
Chalmette.

If an owner cannot make the hearing, they must notify the Office of Safety
and Permits at (504)-278-4310 that they will be sending a designee.
