A St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office surveillance camera helped authorities
crack a copper burglary case.

Three men were booked recently in connection with several burglaries of
copper wire from businesses near Torres Park in Chalmette after one of them
was photographed breaking into the business, authorities said.

The business had been hit several times and the owner agreed to allow the
Sheriff's Office to install a surveillance camera on site. On June 28, the
camera caught a New Orleans man, Broderick Grant, 49, breaking into the
business and stealing copper, the Sheriff's Office said.

Further investigation in the case led to the arrests of Brandon Guevara, 24,
and Michael Boudreaux, age not available. Guevara and Boudreaux are both
from Chalmette.

Grant and Guevara were booked with seven counts each of burglary. Boudreaux
was booked with theft of goods over $500.

Grant and Guevara remained in St. Bernard Parish Prison Thursday in lieu of
$275,000 bond. Boudreaux had been released on bond, the Sheriff's Office
said.
