Dear John,
Yes, he was an umpire for years.  He was working a game on August 6th when
he showed signs of the first stroke.  The other ump is the one who called
911 and stayed with him until he went to the hospital.  He did a lot of
games in Metairie, New Orleans, and even in St. Bernard.
