Ethics board cites former Governor hopeful Walter Boasso

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Board of Ethics has alleged that Walter
Boasso did not accurately file campaign finance reports detailing how money
was spent in his 2007 governor's bid.

The charge against Boasso and his campaign committee involves the failure to
itemize $1.19 million in expenditures made on the campaign's behalf by Shor
Magnus Johnson, a Philadelphia advertising firm.

Also, the agency on Wednesday disclosed charges against the Louisiana
Justice Fund, which led a televised campaign attack against unsuccessful
Republican attorney general candidate Royal Alexander.

The board cited the group for failing to register as a political committee
in the 2007 election and for not filing required campaign finance reports.

Boasso, an Arabi Republican who ran as a Democrat, spent $7 million in his
campaign for governor.

Attorneys for Boasso and the Louisiana Justice Fund were advised of the
allegations against each in letters sent by certified mail July 28.
