yes, as you said, our council had to accept the finished
document to meet some FEMA guidelines or recommendation
it is the master landuse plan of the parish, recommended by the CRC
(Citizens Recovery Committee) and adopted by the Council and it has been
used in landuse decisions
dont know what particular advantage this modern zoning recommendation has,
but unfortunately I am of the opinion that it doesnt seem to matter what our
landuse plan is if the council has the final vote and continues to change
landuses regardless of the consequences it creates for the residents.
examples that come to mind would be the refinery and the waste transfer
station.
I think Orleans Parish has an item on the ballot this election to take the
zoning votes away from politicians and leave the landuse decisions with the
City Planners. I think St Bernard should begin to consider that.

Consultant joke:
Consultants- You pay me to tell you what you already know.
What ever happened to all the data that was collected from meetings with our
residents by another "highly qualified group"? The final document was
supposed to recommend green space, buffer zones, zoning recommendations etc?
Isn't this where the new buzz word, concept of "Smart code" was introduced
to the council? Can't remember if our council had to accept the finished
document to meet some FEMA guidelines or recommendation? Senior moment
can't remember all the details. Just seems that we are duplicating some
effort or should this effort be the execution of the previous submitted
plan?
