Louisiana clean diesel projects get $295,000 from EPA

(Dallas, Texas - October 8, 2008) The Louisiana Department of Environmental
Quality (LDEQ) will receive $295,320 from the Environmental Protection
Agency to help reduce diesel emissions.

EPA Region 6 in Dallas announced a total of $1,378,160 in grants today for
clean diesel projects in Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas
under the State Clean Diesel Program. Grants from the State Clean Diesel
Program are direct, non-competitive assistance awards designed to allow
states to build programs that reduce diesel emissions from existing fleets.
LDEQ will use its grant to work with the Louisiana Department of
Transportation and Development to retrofit several engines in its ferry
fleet.
