A woman who relocated to St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina has been
chosen as one of 10 finalists for CNN's Top Hero of 2008 award.

Liz McCartney started the nonprofit organization the St. Bernard Project,
which helps Hurricane Katrina survivors move back into their homes.

The organization has already helped more than 120 families move back into
their homes at no cost to the families.

Now the nonprofit is preparing to open a mental health facility at its
Chalmette office.

McCartney said she's honored to be nominated as a hero, but to her, the
award is really for all of St. Bernard Parish.

The Top 10 Hero nominees will each receive $25,000, but the person who
receives the most votes will get $100,000.

McCartney said she'll use the money to help more families move back home to
St. Bernard Parish.
