St. Bernard Parish is waiving adoption fees through Monday

Officials hope to address severe shelter overcrowding

The St. Bernard Parish Animal Shelter is experiencing severe overcrowding.
In an effort to find homes for these animals rather than euthanize them, the
parish is waiving all adoption fees for anyone who adopts an animal today
through Monday. There is never a fee charged to senior citizens.

The shelter will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Friday, Saturday,
Sunday and Monday and fully manned for adoptions. There are numerous cats
and dogs available, all waiting for loving homes. This offer is not
restricted to St. Bernard residents; it is for animal lovers anywhere.

Interested persons should bring a driver's license and should visit the
shelter at 115 Agriculture Street, off of Paris Road, in Chalmette. For
information, call 278-1535, 228-1093 or 442-2836.
