Audubon cat glows green in national spotlight

The country's first fluorescent cat, Mr. Green Genes, will be featured
tomorrow, October 23, on The Today Show with Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera.

Created in conjunction with LSU Health Sciences Center, this newest success
from Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species was produced by
introducing enhanced green fluorescence protein into the cat's DNA. Under
ultraviolet light Mr. Green Genes glows, allowing researchers to study his
biology on a cellular level.

This remarkable achievement advances the technology of saving endangered
species and is a potential step to solving human medical issues.
