A 52-year-old man who leapt to his death from a freeway overpass left a note
asking for Barack Obama to help his family.

El Paso police Officer Chris Mears said the man, whose name has not been
released, jumped from an overpass onto westbound Interstate 10 shortly
before 8 a.m. Thursday. 

In his car, abandoned nearby, the man left a typewritten note on legal size
paper on his dashboard and another attached to a rear window.
 

Both were one-line notes asking for the Illinois senator and Democratic
presidential candidate to help his family, Mears said.

Mears said the notes did not include any details about what kind of help the
man wanted or what may have prompted him to jump to his death Thursday
morning.
