MB in Vance AL (near Tuscaloosa) was offering buy-outs, early outs to some
employees and cutting back the number of days a line was running.

This on the Honda plant:

Honda Manufacturing of Alabama

AF0C06319F427785EEBEF242E2D435.html> announced plans Friday to cut
production again at its Lincoln plant to respond to a drop in sales.

Less than a month after announcing a reduction of 12,000 vehicles, the
automaker informed employees Friday it will cut production by 18,000
vehicles. It is part of a total reduction of 119,000 vehicles at Honda Motor
Co.

This on the Hyundai plant in Al:

Production at Hyundai's Alabama auto assembly plant
<http://www.hmmausa.com/> slipped to 21,503 vehicles in October, down from
22,350 in September.

The Korean automaker said production rose for the Sonata sedan, to 15,503
from 14,900 the previous month. But production fell for the Santa Fe sport
utility, to 6,000 from 7,450.

Automakers are struggling amid a global sales slump and scaling back
production to match sluggish demand. Hyundai's output-trimming plan for its
Montgomery plant started last month. Production is being suspended on 11
days through the end of the year.

And yes, some on the right want to forget those state incentives offered to
lure those plants to the Southern states. Like it or not, those count as
subsidies too. I have no idea what Shelby has to say about these cut backs
at these plants but the Detroit 3 aren't the only ones hurting in the U.S.
