A man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in St.
Bernard Parish to several sex crimes involving juvenile girls.

Jonathan "Gentilly" Hampton, 24, pleaded guilty before state District Judge
Wayne Cresap to two counts of forcible rape and three counts of carnal
knowledge of a juvenile. Cresap handed down two consecutive 20-year
sentences in the rape cases, in addition to three 10-year sentences in the
carnal knowledge cases. The carnal knowledge sentences will be served at the
same time as the rape sentences.

Hampton was booked in July with the forcible rape of a 14-year-old girl. At
the time of his arrest, authorities said that alleged rape came to light
when the victim began displaying symptoms of a venereal disease that forced
her to the hospital for treatment.

The Sheriff's Office said Hampton told investigators after his arrest that
he might have had sex with other underaged girls. And the subsequent
investigation led to two additional underage victims, the St. Bernard Parish
Sheriff's Office said.

One of the victims is a girl who lived out of state but was in the Violet
area visiting relatives, authorities said.

Hampton pleaded guilty Dec. 16.
