"Sounds like Etta might have joking about Beyonce, but how FUNNY the AP
story leaves out any reference of Etta James' immediate comment at the end -
when she originally was talking to her audience about Beyonce....that
comment was "she (Beyounce) was singing my song to you know - 'the one." The
audience laughed, then Ms. James said, "He ain't my president, I can tell
you that much!"
Jer Responds: It's not the color of one's skin (as Etta has proved by
disowning a high-ranking negro) and Beyonce who caters to OB, not because he
is president as much as he is of the same persuasion as Beyonce.)
This incident proves that whites can love blacks (especially respectable
ones like Etta), Former U.S. Congressman J.C. Watts, (Oklahoma), Michael
Steele, a former Maryland lieutenant governor AND NOW Republican National
Committee Chairman and more who are determined to give liberals a challenge!
These men (we haven't seen many respectable black women--only distorted
liberal ones) make it to the ranks of Conservative Representatives or
Senators yet, but someday, we've hoping they will be given equal opportunity
to shine.
Why Beyonce and others chose to make a movie about a grand singer is beyond
many of us who believe trying to out-sing and perform while a greatness
still lives is wrong. It wasn't Etta mocking Beyonce, but the other way
around. Imagine someone singing your song before the president and you're
excluded (not because you're not a better singer than Beyonce, but because
of ageism. You don't expect OB-1 to ask "the old broad" (no offense to
anyone older than me <G>), to his singing engagement when he can have a
younger woman there (to pi$$ off his wife) <chuckle>. How dare he swoon
while Etta gets the rejection notice. (we have to wonder if OB-1 has made an
apology call to Etta after hearing it made national news)?
I must admit I was tickled when she told them both off. However, it exhibits
individualism who can make a stand and be outraged vs. both an high-ranking
elected official and a popular millionaire singer.
Etta and I hit it off because we both have a mutual agreement (along with
tens of millions) about this. Since taking over, I have never seen a
president "partying to the hilt". He's always holding a party, going to a
party and indulging in whatever at a party. He's gone to numerous ones and
he's only been in a couple of weeks. I'd venture to say that he's almost
been partying more than doing the government's business. I know for a fact
that most city-dwellers party more than country ones <G>. New Orleans are
one, Chicago is another place, and it goes on.
She was being polite when she said she mocked Beyonce for laughs. It's a
downright "cat fight" and I believe the "old lady of soul" could tear
Beyonce into shreds if they meet in an alley alone without any of their
bodyguards (then there's weapons violations <G>)..
Great job, Etta! Now, who's next to take on the "party-goer"?
