If it is said that music is food for the soul, then library friends who
attend the March 21st installment of the St. Bernard Parish Library's
Saturday Morning Family Fun program will share a feast of musical fun.

Music lovers of all ages will hear, see and learn all things opera during
Opera a la Carte. This 45-minute program is a lively introduction to
opera's "greatest hits" such as The Barber of Seville, Carmen, Hansel and
Gretel, II Trovatore, and The Magic Flute. Audience members will learn
about the origins of opera, become familiar with foreign language terms that
are part of the performances, and gain an appreciation for what it takes to
become a professional opera singer. And best of all, they will have the
opportunity to be "on stage" with the artists! Participants of all ages
will discover that opera is FUN!

MetroPelican Opera is the educational/outreach touring company of the New
Orleans Opera Association. Founded in 1988, the MetroPelican Opera
singer-actors have brought their highly participatory performances to groups
throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

St. Bernard Parish Library guests will be able to experience the thrill of
"going to the opera" in the beautiful and spacious surroundings provided by
the St. Bernard Council on Aging, located at 8201 W. Judge Perez Dr. Ms.
Susan McNeil, director, has once again offered to open her doors for another
fantastic production.

The St. Bernard Parish Library's Saturday Morning Family Fun programs are
supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of
Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in
cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the St.
Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs.

For more information, please visit the library at its temporary location,

on the parish's website. I'm not sure how to accomplish that or whether you
can post it, but just in case, I've included the link/address:
