The Corps of Engineers will provide information on the proposed plans to
reduce flood risk in St. Bernard Parish at a public meeting tomorrow in
Braithwaite.

There will be an open house at 6 p.m., with the presentation and discussion
to follow from 7 until 9 p.m. at Lynn Oaks School, 1 Lynn Oaks Drive, the
corps said.

"After much analysis, the project team is excited to be presenting the
recommended plan for the Caernarvon Floodwall," Chris Gilmore, the corps'
senior project manager, said in a news release. "Residents are encouraged to
attend and provide feedback on all of the Corps projects in St. Bernard."

Corps representatives will describe the proposed plans to improve the Bayou
Dupre control structure, Caernarvon floodwall, and area levees. The meeting
will include the showing of a video that describes the construction of the
Inner Harbor Navigation Canal surge barriers. There will also be a brief
discussion of the status of identifying potential borrow sources to be used
in the hurricane protection system.
