A St. Bernard Parish man has been arrested in connection with a daylong
crime spree in which he's accused of trespassing, burglarizing two houses
and selling stolen items to a pawn shop and scrap metal yard.

Patrick Vaughn, 28, of the Poydras area, was booked Wednesday with two
counts of burglary, two counts of possession of stolen property worth more
than $500 and criminal trespassing. The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office
said he was arrested after trespassing at a Chalmette junkyard, where
deputies said he was trying to steal a radiator to sell as scrap metal.

Vaughn is accused of burglarizing a house on Congressman Hebert Drive and on
Rosetta Drive, both in Chalmette.

Items reported stolen from those homes, including a pressure washer and
saws, were spotted in Vaughn's vehicle as he was being questioned at the
junkyard. Some items taken from the homes were also sold by Vaughn to a
scrap metal dealer and to a pawn shop, the Sheriff's Office said.

Vaughn remains in custody in St. Bernard Parish in lieu of $50,000 bond.
