Demolition of St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Annex

To begin during ceremony Thursday, April 16 at 9:30 a.m.

The demolition of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Annex will begin
Thursday, April 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the yard behind the St. Bernard
Courthouse.

"This is another piece of critical infrastructure to assist the Sheriff's
Department in having first class housing for his personnel," Parish
President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. said.

Officials will gather to mark the beginning of the demolition of the
two-story annex that ultimately will be rebuilt to house the administrative
offices of St. Bernard Sheriff Jack Stephens. The FEMA funded demolition, at
$105,000, will take about 45 days. The design for the complex is underway.
St. Bernard Parish Government is responsible for overseeing the demolition
and the construction of the building for the Sheriff's Office at #2
Courthouse Square in Chalmette.

Currently, the Sheriff's administrative offices operate out of 8301 W. Judge
Perez Drive in Chalmette in the Sidney Torres Plaza/Regions Bank Building.
