[StBernard] Obama friendly with Chavez: How is this to be viewed?

Let's say there was a foriegn country where the leader or dictator there
publicly declared himself as an enemy of your country and furthermore vowed
to the destruction of your country. Then the leader of your country went
over to meet that declared enemy leader and was very chummy with that enemy
leader - even patting him on the shoulder while they chit-chatted.

What would you think of the leader of your country? The very same leader
when running for office vowed to be on your side...on your team? How would
that make you feel? Would you feel betrayed? Yes, and rightfully so.

Yet that's exactly what took place when Barack Obama met the other day with
Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. How vividly we remember just last year Chavez
appearing on the news, pumping his fist declaring himself an enemy of the
United States and vowed to "our" destruction. Of course, doing this all the
while he sells his gasoline (Citgo gas, owned and controlled by the
Venezuelan government) to us stupid Americans - funding his efforts to
"destroy us."

While there is no reasonable objection to simply meeting Chavez, did Obama
have to be so chummy and buddy-buddy with him?...which was pretty darn
obvious! But then again why wouldn't the two men get along...after all,
both are clearly a socialist-communist and believe government should run and
control everything - by their hand of course.

I don't know about you, but I have a serious problem with the manner and
attitude in which Obama approached Chavez. Who knows?...Obama already
appears to be doing whatever he can to destroy the U.S. economy...maybe he
figures Chavez could lend a hand.

But the bottom line to all this...since when did we (the United States)
become so chummy with our enemies who have sworn to our destruction?

Chavez said he sees the relationship between our two countries only to
improve....oh yeah, and at what cost to us? After all, when was the last
time any country approached the United States about improving relationships
where it was clearly to "our gain" and not theirs? These banana republics
like Venezuela only want relations with the U.S. when there's something in
it for them. If I'm wrong, you're more than welcome to point out a
contradicaiton....besides the U.K. and Austrailia.

What gets me is where is the liberal U.S. media in all this? Chavez is well
known for squashing any dissenting opinion in his country, including free
speech and a free press. So where's Rosie O'Donnell, Barbra Streisand,
Meryl Streep, Danny Glover, the rest of Hollywood and all the liberal media
on this? Why aren't they blasting Chavez for his oppression of "human
rights?"

But, I guess it's hard to object to Chavez when Obama buddies up to him,
right? This is just another example of how the Psych Ward patients have
escaped and taken over the hospital.
