I haven't installed IE8 myself yet, but will get around to it.

Microsoft is rolling out IE8 slowly, so different people will see it show up
in their updates at different times. 

They are doing this mainly for bandwidth purposes. While they may have a lot
of bandwidth, trying to feed the IE8 update to the entire world at one time
would cause even them some problems.
