Woman hit by dump truck in St. Bernard Parish dies

A 38-year-old New York woman who was hit by a St. Bernard Parish dump truck
earlier this week while walking across a major roadway died at University
Hospital Friday morning, a day after her birthday.

Lisa Bullington of Hudson Falls, N.Y., died at 11:41 a.m. Friday after being
in treatment since the Wednesday afternoon crash, State Police said. 

Norman H. Crawford, 52, a St. Bernard Parish government employee, was
turning from Campagna Drive onto West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette when he
hit Bullington, who was in the crosswalk. 

State Police officials said they did not consider driver impairment or
excessive speed as issues leading to the crash. Crawford was cited for
failing to yield to a pedestrian. 

After Bullington's death Friday, State Police said they will turn the case
over to the St. Bernard District Attorney John Rowley's office to consider
additional charges against Crawford.
