On Monday, June 1, 2009, Catholic Charities will partner with the
Community Center of St Bernard to offer a free workshop about Digital
Television, also known as DTV. The seminar, presented by Mr Don
Cooper, will begin at 10:30AM in the Community Center annex at 1111
LeBeau St in Arabi.

DTV is a new type of broadcasting technology that provides
crystal-clear pictures and sound, and gives TV viewers more
programming choices than ever before. By law, television stations
nationwide must begin broadcasting exclusively in digital format by
June 12, 2009. Mr Cooper will discuss the upcoming switch to digital
television and the many benefits that this change will bring.

However, many households may lose their TV reception in June when the
digital switch takes place because their televisions are not set up to
receive a digital signal. Mr Cooper will explain how consumers can
check if their TV set is ready for DTV or not.

Finally Mr Cooper will do a hands-on demonstration that will show
step-by-step how to convert a regular (analog) TV to receive DTV
signals by using a digital-to-analog converter box. Workshop
participants will also be able to enter a drawing to win their own
free digital converter box.

The DTV workshop on June 1 is open to the public and no reservations
are needed. For more information, please contact the Community Center
at 504.281.2512.
