St. Claude Bridge Closure 
St. Claude Avenue Bridge to Undergo Repairs
On Friday, June 12 th

The St. Claude Avenue Bridge over the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal
(Industrial Canal) in New Orleans will be closed to all vehicular,
pedestrian, and bicycle traffic for six consecutive hours between 9 a.m. and
3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009 for a mechanical repair. Routine
engineering inspection recommended replacing a gear that raises and lowers
the bridge. 

Alternate routes are the Florida Avenue Bridge or the Judge Seeber
(Claiborne Avenue) Bridge while the repairs are being made. There are no
scheduled outages at either the Florida Avenue Bridge or the Judge Seeber
Bridge during this repair time. The Port's electronic message board between
Andry Street and Egania Street will advise the public of the closure so that
traffic can detour to another bridge.

The Port of New Orleans, which owns and operates the bridge,  recently
repaired the steel grating on the roadways and that work has been completed.
