CHALMETTE, La. -- The St. Bernard Parish Council will meet Wednesday
afternoon in a special session to consider concerns related to the work of a
local construction company.

The meeting centers on projects contracted to a Kenner construction firm.
One project -- the rebuilding of a St. Bernard fire station -- has raised
questions regarding procedures and the quality of construction.

The council is meeting to discuss possible actions regarding the firehouse
and other yet-to-be completed projects.

The meeting takes place at 4:30 p.m. at council chambers. The first item on
the agenda is a motion to issue an immediate cease and desist order
regarding JaRoy Construction.

A second item moves to nullify a "hold harmless" agreement between the
parish and the company.

JaRoy Construction helmed the rebuilding of Fire Station No. 5 on East Judge
Perez Drive in Chalmette. The project broke ground in January at a projected
cost of just under $1.4 million.
