Office of Motor Vehicles opens in Chalmette on Monday, Aug. 31 at 8 a.m.

St. Bernard Parish President's Office sets up office; parish government pays
rent



Thanks to the assistance of the office of St. Bernard Parish President Craig
P. Taffaro, Jr., the state Office of Motor Vehicles will hold its grand
opening at its Chalmette office on Monday, August 31 at 8 a.m.



The office at 1914 E. Judge Perez Drive at the corner of Campagna Drive will
be open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.



"The return of this office's services is yet another piece of our
community's recovery and again illustrates that good things continue to
happen as a result of our partnerships," Parish President Craig Taffaro
said.

For the convenience of local citizens, the office will handle the following
transactions:

* first-time driver's license issuance

* outside road skills tests

* driver's license renewals

* commercial driver's license renewals

* first-time identification card issuance

* identification card renewals

* handicap hang tags

* title transfers/license plate issuance

* registration/license plate sticker renewals

* some reinstatement clearances

* out of state vehicle transfer

* out of state driver's license transfer



This office is being opened to benefit St. Bernard residents, and the normal
$2 transaction fee that is charged to all customers will cover the rent that
is paid by St. Bernard Parish Government for the facility.
