Unfortunately it is the nature or curse of politics that even the best
candidate can't win if he/she can't raise big bucks.  The general has no
chance whatsoever of that since everyone who might go to for the greenbacks
is already committed.  And a couple of dollars here or there from grandma
and grandpa barely pays for a few quarter page ads in a small town
newspaper.  His best hope is to get some media attention, but that barely
gets you anywhere.

It's true when you hear these election experts say things like "well, I hope
I he has a few million dollars just to get started in his campaign...,"
because it's true.  It takes bucks to run a statewide campaign.
