[StBernard] Taxing Districts Listening to the People

Just like the health care town hall meetings, local citizens are
participating and having their voices heard with respect to property tax
increases.  The good news is that most taxing bodies are listening. Recently
the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office, Fire District 4 and  the Lacombe
Recreational District all declined to increase their tax rates.  Thanks to
all of the citizens who took the time to contact these taxing bodies,
including the St. Tammany Parish Republican Executive Committee who was very
active and effective, as well as the taxing districts themselves for
listening.  The remaining millage increase is set to be voted on September
3, 2009 before the St. Tammany Parish Council. This meeting will be held at
the St. Tammany Parish Government Complex, 21490 Koop Dr., Mandeville, LA at
6:00pm. An email list of the Parish Council appears below:
