Chalmette man booked with attempted kidnapping in Plaquemines Parish

A Chalmette man has been booked with the attempted kidnapping of a
10-year-old girl in Plaquemines Parish, authorities said. 

Ivy A. Bourgeois, 26, was booked Wednesday morning. He is accused of trying
to get a 10-year-old girl to get into the truck he was driving in
Braithwaite Tuesday evening, authorities with the sheriff's offices in St.
Bernard and Plaquemines parishes said. 

The girl's mother notified the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office that a
man had tried to lure her daughter into a white truck. A resident of the
neighborhood recalled seeing a man driving a white truck handing out fliers
advertising a grass-cutting business. Using a phone number on that flier,
deputies were able to track Bourgeois to a residence on Decomine Street in
Chalmette. 

Bourgeois was booked at the Belle Chasse lockup, said Maj. John Marie of the
Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office. Bond information was not immediately
available.
