St. Bernard holds Community Celebration to mark Katrina Anniversary

Concert in Park brings families and friends together

St. Bernard Parish Government marked the fourth anniversary of Hurricane
Katrina's landfall with many events including a Community Celebration in
Torres Park on the evening on the anniversary in an event meant to allow
citizens to come together to celebrate all that is good and enduring about
the parish's recovery and growth.

President Taffaro said the day is a time to commemorate the storm's
aftermath but to look forward to celebrate the progress and to embrace the
future.

This year's Community Celebration featured the music of Harvey Jesus in the
Community Playground Amphitheater in Torres Park behind the Government
Complex. President Taffaro invited civic groups, government agencies and
citizens to participate in a "We're Still Here Gallery," which was a series
of tables that showcased items, icons and memorabilia that showed what is
good that has endured in our parish.

The band's performance was supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division
of the Arts as administered by the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural
Affairs.
