e-update
09.14.09

This month, we recognized the eighth anniversary of September 11, 2001. I
also reacted to the President's latest address to Congress on health care
and had a productive meeting with FEMA Director Craig Fugate on some
important recovery issues.

Below you can read about these and other issues that I'm working on, such
as working to ensure that your positions on health care reform are heard in
Congress.

On the eighth anniversary of the attacks on America, we again paused to
remember the thousands of lives lost on that day. The tragedy of September
11 still weighs so very heavily on our country, and as we mourn with the
families and friends who lost loved ones, we pray that we also help
shoulder some of their burden of loss. Read the text of my full statement

I was very disappointed in the President's speech because it's obvious that
he hasn't been listening to the American people. You can watch a statement
detailing my disappointment in the President's insistence on moving toward
a government-run health care system here.

This summer's health care debate focused on two very important questions:
"What is the appropriate reform our health care system needs?" and "What is
a member of Congress's most important responsibility to his constituents?"
