FWIW:   Some of the folks on the sbp forum on nola.com are canceling
subscriptions to the T.P.,
specifically citing DeBerry's columns and editorials as the reason for doing
so.

Newspapers in general (and true of the T.P. as they have had big layoffs)
are declining in readership.
I'd say a concentrated effort to cancel subscriptions would be noticed but
don't know if they really care.
