I agree with this proposed legislation, especially since the federal
government ALREADY HAS department heads (secretaries) where these
responsibilities fall under...duh?

La. Congressman Proposes 'Anti-Czar' Legislation Scalise Wants Positions
Eliminated By End Of Year WDSU.com updated 5:25 p.m. CT, Thurs., Sept . 17,

A Louisiana congressman is calling for the elimination of so-called "czars"
in the federal government, and he's introduced legislation that would make
it happen by year's end.

Republican Rep. Steve Scalise has introduced House Resolution 3569 -- the
"Sunset All Czars Act." The measure would eliminate any such positions that
don't go through a confirmation process.

"Our federal government should not be running banks, we should not be
running car companies, and we should not have all of these czars," Scalise
said in a statement released Thursday. "The dramatic increase in czars by
this administration is a dangerous and growing trend. It's time we sunset
these czars with the broad powers they wield, and restore accountability and
transparency to the American people."

Should The Government Eliminate Unconfirmed 'Czar' Positions?

The proposal shadows a previous bill, authored by Georgia Congressman Jack
Kingston, that would prohibit taxpayer funds from being used to pay the
czars unless they've been vetted by the Senate.

Critics have questioned the credentials and history of several Obama
appointees. They highlight the recent resignation of Van Jones, the White
House green jobs czar, amid outcry over his association with the Sept. 11
"truther" movement and negative remarks he made about Republicans.
