Fresh from whale watching in Martha’s Vineyard <http://lagop.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=81f80dfae08a15f3629eabdeb&id=2104b41da1&e=6a30004df9>  with his chief fundraiser New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, Charlie Melancon is scheduled to hold a fundraiser in New Orleans with the Louisiana vice-chair of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 bid for president, Calvin Fayard.
 
Fayard <http://lagop.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=81f80dfae08a15f3629eabdeb&id=992c4486ba&e=6a30004df9>  raised a whale-like $50,000 for Kerry’s 2004 presidential bid and has been a longtime supporter of the Trial Lawyers Association.  

No wonder Charlie Melancon voted <http://lagop.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=81f80dfae08a15f3629eabdeb&id=3695166e2d&e=6a30004df9>  with the trial lawyers against a medical liability reform when he had a chance – even though his good friend President Obama agreed that medical malpractice suits contribute to the higher cost of health care. 
 
But it’s really no surprise – Charlie Melancon has taken more the $35,000 from Trial Lawyers PAC <http://lagop.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=81f80dfae08a15f3629eabdeb&id=2d3fdda02d&e=6a30004df9> . 
 
So keeping true to form, today, September 25th 2009, Charlie Melancon will be rubbing shoulders with trial lawyers and supporters of John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.  That’s doesn’t sound very “Blue Dog” to me.
 
Maybe he’ll take up wind surfing too.
