A Chalmette man wanted on a burglary warrant in St. Bernard Parish was
arrested Friday after a tipster led authorities to his father's home in
Tangipahoa Parish, where he was caught hiding in the attic.

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said Andrew Bonnet, who was wanted
in connection with a Sept. 12 residential burlgary in Chalmette, was
captured by Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies at the home of his father
in the Independence area.

Bonnet, 30, who formerly lived on Dauterive Drive, was arrested without
resistance and has been transferred to St. Bernard Parish Prison, where he
is being held without bond. He is booked with burglary of an inhabited
dwelling.

His father's name was not released.

A warrant alleged Bonnet was identified by St. Bernard sheriff's detectives
as the man who burglarized a home on Dauterive Drive on Sept. 12, stealing a
large amount of jewelry, a Honda 50cc motorcycle, a television and
collector's items.

Some of the goods were dropped in the street after the burglary but Doran
said authorities believe the rest were traded for drugs. Bonnet has served
time in the juvenile court system for manslaughter, St. Bernard sheriff's
officials said in a news release Monday.
