St. Bernard Parish President signed $43.9 million contract to improve
Munster Wastewater Treatment Plant

FEMA and Parish bond money to fund work

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. with the support of the
Parish Council recently signed at $43.9 million contract for work at the
Munster Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The contract awarded to Max Foote Construction will be funded with $20
million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $23 million from a
bond fund paid for by St. Bernard Parish.

“The Munster Wastewater Treatment Plant project is consolidating the waste
system for the parish,” President Taffaro said. “It’s necessary to remain
compliant with the administrative order from the EPA to meet discharge
requirements.”

The work, which should be completed in about 2½ years, has been designed by
Camp Dresser & McKee, Inc., and All South Engineering is the project
manager.
